Filming documentary in GCC
I am very proud to be part of a great team that is filming a documentary directed by a super talented young lady. The purpose of this project is to show to the world the horrible impact of plastic pollution. This amazing lady, that remains undercover for the moment :), had a very good idea of how to promote this problem among the locals of Qatar. With a lot of information and connections with the scientist world, we ended up traveling all over the Gulf area where I have seen images that will hunt me all my life. I made some pictures that I hope they will make you stop and think for a moment.
Encountered challenges: Introducing the video and sound equipment into UAE is not an easy task. Luckily, we had the perfect producer with us that solved all the problems that appeared but still we spent like 3 to 4 hours in the custom area and deposited a great amount of money as a guarantee.
Another challenge was the difference between locations. We shoot in several spots from the dry&hot desert to the moist mangroves area and on the boat far from the shore.
My equipment resisted very well. I truly recommend the Sound Devices 788T for harsh environments and the Voice Technologies VT500 Water lavaliere microphones for “wet” environments.
